Mentors for Kids (MFK) Foundation is a not-for-profit initiative by BCL India, dedicated to empowering students through practical, industry-relevant education. MFK is proudly backed by Zerodha and operates multiple programs designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world skills.
This internship is part of Financial Literacy, MFK's school outreach program, focused specifically on underprivileged students of Government High Schools in Bangalore. The program takes a holistic approach — building spoken language skills (English, Hindi, and Kannada), instilling good daily habits, and introducing students to the fundamentals of financial literacy from an early age.
Students are first taught good daily habits, including daily study and reading newspapers. They maintain daily journals to log their activities and homework exercises. Positive actions are logged, verified, and financially rewarded every month. These earnings are channelled into mutual funds where they observe the power of the stock market and compounding, making financial literacy a lived experience rather than a classroom concept.

Our Chief Mentor teaches a joint session of 8th, 9th and 10th at 33 schools, covering 4 schools in a single day. Thus, he is able to visit each school once a month. The focus is on teaching good habits and sharing stories students can relate to, inspiring them to succeed rather than give up.
You will co-teach this session (much like a Teaching Assistant) when he is there, and conduct the session yourself when he isn't. We call this role Badee Bahen / Badaa Bhai so the children can relate to you and ask you questions about how you coped with the issues they are facing, how you succeeded etc.
You can also discuss the good habits they are journaling, inspiring others. You are not a teacher or a parent; just an elder sibling they can hang out with.
